Jack Hughes played a prominent role as Warrington Wolves tore up the form book and lifted the Coral Challenge Cup, less than a month after the second-row forward underwent surgery for a ruptured testicle.

Hughes wore a cricket-style groin protector and led from the front in a surprise switch to stand-off in the 18-4 victory on Saturday as the Wolves turned the agony of losing to Catalans Dragons in the final last season to upset a stunned St Helens.
