Exciting women’s cricket came to town – Krugersdorp News


Fourteen clubs from central Gauteng recently met in Krugersdorp for the annual Central Gauteng Lions T20 Women’s club cricket tournament.

Between Krugersdorp High School and Laerskool Protearif, 20 matches took place over two days.

The first match of the day had the Randburg Club’s first team taking on the Kagiso women’s team on the Protearif field. Randburg won this match by 38 runs.

Some of the interesting matches during the weekend include the Soweto Women’s first team beating the Sandton open first team by 177 runs.

A nail-biter went down when the ABSA VUT first team took on the Caxton Khosa first team and beat them by only one run.

Some teams travelled long distances to participate in the tournament, for example the teams from Randburg, Soweto, Sandton and Heidelberg.
