Two day festival delivers the cricket season’s first sting – Vryheid Herald

Six teams came together for two days of exhilarating cricket in the opening festival as they battled it out on the pitch in match after match of the “gentleman’s game” and put on a spectacular show for friends and family who turned up to support the players.

Abdullah Ashfaq is bowled out as wicket keeper, Hubert Bredenhann reaches to catch the wicket-taking delivery.

Participating teams were Gladiators, Mondlo, Mr X, Pak CC, Spartans and Wicket Wasps.

Despite it’s reputation as “the gentleman’s game” there was one young lady who stood out among the men. Teen cricket sensation, 17-year-old Kayla High, earned her accolades within the club as she took a hat-trick on Saturday playing for Mr X in a match against the Pak CC team.
