CRICKET legend David Lloyd left Ashes fans in stitches after lacing his TV commentary with innuendo as new “rubber” was rolled onto a bat.
Lloyd – affectionately known as Bumble – said: “It’s worth watching this. How he gets this on.
“You’ve got to know how to put one of these rubbers on. There we go. Right to the bottom.
“Now you put it on, right on the end. And roll it down, right to the bottom. Now pull it right back up.
“That’s the one. Come on, keep going. And now you’ve got to knock it down. Push it down, push it down. Pull it down, rub it up. Give it a good rub. Now you should have a bit of tape round the bottom… keep it in position.”
Samiul Hoque Chowdhury tweeted: “Bumble sure knows how to put rubber on. Chief reason why @SkyCricket has the best coverage in cricket.”
Ross Barnes said: “Absolutely hilarious listening to bumble talking about putting a rubber grip on a bat, Pure entertainment #Ashes2019”
And Georgie Heath tweeted: @BumbleCricket narrating application of a grip to a cricket bat and referring to it as “how to put on a rubber” is the highlight of this cricket match and a strong contender for best commentary of the year.”
