  • Prince William and Kate Middleton’s plane was forced not to land as expected when they flew from Lahore to Islamabad in Pakistan.
  • They’re okay, but their plane nearly came in contact with lightning!

If you haven’t been keeping up the Cambridges, you may have missed that Prince William and Kate Middleton are currently on a royal tour of Pakistan focusing on their duties, which include helping efforts to combat climate change, speaking to young Pakistani children, and aiding organizations that provide education to girls. Will and Kate’s tour began this week on October 14, but sadly, they ran into some trouble when leaving the city of Lahore today.

According to a People report, William and Kate’s plane had to turn around because of a “terrifying” electrical storm. After completing their engagements in Lahore, Will and Kate were flying over to the city of Islamabad by plane through lightning. It could be seen over the right wing of their jet, causing it to bump from side to side while they were en route to Islamabad.

After two attempts to land the plane at two different airports, they all had to turn back around to Lahore, just to be safe. Will and Kate’s flight was only supposed to take 25 minutes, but the whole ordeal ended up taking two hours, which is honestly super alarming!

The good news here is that the royals are totally okay, but even if something did happen and one of them got hurt, they traveled with their doctor on this tour just in case. After finally getting off the flight, William tried to make light of the situation by joking that he was the one piloting the plane and saying that he and Kate are probably going to have a night out in Lahore now that they have some free time. Thank god they’re alright!
