Truly sad: Anand Mahindra reacts to attack on UK journalist by Pakistan supporters in London – India Today

Business tycoon Anand Mahindra on Monday reacted over the attack on UK journalist Katie Hopkins by Pakistan supporters in London.

He said that it was sad that the protests were taking place on Diwali in a city which used to be a “neutral meeting ground” for Indians and Pakistanis.

In a tweet, Anand Mahindra said, “Truly, truly sad. London used to be a neutral meeting ground where Indians and Pakistanis often discovered their common histories as South Asians. And this at a time when Diwali is globally being recognised as a day of light and hope.”

This comes after Katie Hopkins was harassed by protesters outside Indian High Commission in London.

In a tweet, she said, “This is the Pakistani mob bussed into London to disrespect the religious festival of Diwali. Mostly men. Mostly calling me a ‘slut’ or ‘whore’. My thanks to MeT Police UK for their generous assistance.”

Last month, Katie Hopkins slammed London Mayor Sadiq Khan and the London administration over the mess that was created outside the Indian embassy following protests by Pakistanis.

Thousands of people led by British-Pakistani groups held a protest in September outside the Indian embassy in London against the withdrawal of special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

The violent protesters threw eggs at the building and also damaged the premises of the embassy.
